About the World Congress of Gastroenterology
The first World Congress was held in Washington, DC, USA in 1958, and had historically been held every four years until 2017, when it moved to a two-year cycle. View the congress history.
The call for bids for the 2025 WCOG will open in January 2021.

Please note that applications to host a World Congress can only be considered from WGO Member Societies. Selection of the venue of a World Congress is recommended by the WGO Governing Council, with final ratification made by the WGO General Assembly.
